What to do when you don't know what else to do: something new.

I had some sad news today.

Having fallen to pieces - and gotten that out of the way - I have decided to try and do two things:

1) Something creative

2) Something nice for someone else

Every day. For at least a month. And see what happens..

H is for Hello.

Hello lovely people

No longer shall I be lurking on the edge of the community, instead I've decided to:

Here are a few bits to get things started.

STUDIO SHOT:

I is for Inspiration

So now that's out the way, let's get down to business.

There's nothing like a look at someone else's success to start the creative cogs turning - I wouldn't generally describe myself as competitive, but art jealousy can be a powerful mistress - so with a new blog to supply and armed with sketchbooks, coffee/craft beer maps and a Bob, I was London bound.

Whenever I want a one stop shop for gallery inspiration I head to the Saatchi Gallery. I'm sure it divides opinion, but I've always found it the perfect compromise between large enough to feel like an achievement and small enough to avoid numbing (resulting from one too many masterpieces). Most importantly there always seems to be something that makes me want to go home and do.

Here are a couple of somethings from this visit:

Eric Manigaud – “Cologne 1, 1945" (2011)
pencil and graphite on paper, 179 x 175 cm

Christian Holstad - "Defending Decisions" (2005)
pencil on newspaper, 13 x 18 cm

Miler Lagos - Fragmentos del Tiempo (Fragments of the Time)(2012)
Piled and carved newspaper, 15

The theme is PAPER, but there is also a small exhibition celebrating the Hugo Boss anniversary on the top floor filled with interactive goodies.

I'm not entirely sure how this blog is going to work yet, but in theory it will involve my work, so :

These happened.

I'm also gonna share a few more photos in celebration of the awesomeness that was the whole day, including some very good coffee (courtesy of Monmouth and Milkbar) and the Cartoon Museum, an under appreciated gem.
